I just read about the case of a 5-month-old pitbull puppy, Trooper, who was tied to the back of a truck and dragged for more than a mile along a Missouri interstate and was shocked and horrified by it. I'm sure many animal lovers and advocates read this post as well but in case anyone may have missed it, I'm sharing this story with you this morning.
According to Foxnews.com, Trooper survived the ordeal after a team of veterinarians performed emergency surgeries to save his life.
"It’s shocking when an animal is abused to this extent," Missouri Humane Society spokeswoman Jean Jay told FoxNews.com. "We are following up on some leads and tips we've received in cooperation with law enforcement."
"The dog is well for what he's been through," she said. "He is remarkably calm and friendly."
On Nov. 21, the St. Louis City police responded to a call about a severely injured animal that had been tethered to the back of a truck and dragged along Highway 55.
When authorities arrived at the scene, the driver, who was visibly distraught, said he did not know the animal or understand how it became tied to his vehicle, Jay said. The man said he was alerted to the animal when another driver signaled to him and called 911.
Jay said the driver was parked in a residential neighborhood in south St. Louis before driving off, unaware the animal was tied in between his truck and an attached trailer.
Jay said the dog was fortunate in that he did not suffer internal injuries.
"There is a chance now we'll be able to save his front right leg," Jay said. "None have been amputated at this point."
The Humane Society of Missouri is offering a $5,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for tying the animal to the truck.

That is just horrible. There was a case over here where a woman did the same thing to her dogs by mistake. Both poor dogs had to be put down. We hope the little recovers and they catch who did it. We also wish the poor driver well. Have a fabulous Friday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
If I was the driver I would be as devastated as he was! What an awful thing to do to both him and the dog! I hope they catch the one who did this!
DeleteOh my stars! :-( How heartbreaking and horrifying!
ReplyDeletePoor Trooper and what a shock for the driver too. :-(
Take care

It is absolutely heinous and heartbreaking! I hope they find the guy & lock him up!
DeleteA hot place is reserved for people who would do something like this.
ReplyDeleteI hope he is prosecuted quickly and without mercy!
DeleteOh No. I sure hope he recovers and will get to enjoy the loving life he deserves.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Goose
The fact that Trooper was so calm and so sweet after such a horrific even speaks volumes of his forgiving nature. What a love he will be for someone!
DeleteSeriously what is wrong with people?????? This makes me steaming mad! Glad to see the little guy is doing well after such suffering!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad he's doing well too! Poor baby! I hope Trooper recuperates quickly too!
DeleteOMD....That poor pup! How can people be so mean? We just don't understand it. We'd love to see whoever did this tied to a truck and left to run behind it for a mile.
ReplyDeleteI bet this pup will find a terrific 4-ever home after this ordeal.
I don't understand why or how anyone can be so mean either! I wonder if the guy has a conscience? Awful! At least Trooper is pulling through and has so much support!
DeleteMom is volunteering to drag the person who did this
ReplyDeleteBenny & Lily
How funny! I will be there to help your mom drag the guy around!
DeleteHow awful for the driver of the truck to realze waht had happened. Poor Trooper.
ReplyDeleteWe can find nothing good to say about the human (if it was truly a human) who tied a puppy to a vehicle like that.
I question their ability to be human whoever it was.
I feel awful for this poor pup, and i hope that this person is caught and brought to justice. I have two pitbull puppies and i would 100% not be able to come up with a reason for this type of thing, they could do the worse thing possible, and i wouldn't think of doing anything this ha nous. This person makes me sick.
