University of New England students, Jillian Gagne and Samantha Mills, organized a 'Dog Walk and Beach Clean Up' event that took place at Jenness State Beach in Rye, New Hampshire, on Sunday, October 28, from 9:00 to 2:00 in an effort to benefit Cocheco Valley Humane Society.
Cocheco Valley Humane Society's volunteer coordinator, Kelly Bowen, walked along the beach with a volunteer and adoptable shelter pups, Cody and Ellie, trying to collect as much trash as possible. Thanks to the generous sponsorship of many local businesses, CVHS will receive a donation for each pound of trash collected.
Even though the weather was gloomy, cold, and windy volunteers were serious about cleaning up the environment for a worthy cause. |
When the volunteers needed a break from their duties, the pups entertained them with a game of seaweed tug-of-war
and
catch.
By the end of the event, volunteers, including hound mix, O'Malley, and
11 year old cocker spaniel/poodle mix siblings, Cody and Ellie, were proud of their efforts to help the environment and Cocheco Valley Humane Society at the same time!
Great idea a meet and greet and something good for the environment. Have a lovely Monday.
