What I've Learned About Pugs

I have a confession to make. Long before Daisy came into our lives I fell in love with pugs and it all started with the cute little buggers who are pictured above. When I first laid eyes on Ace (the bug-eyed dude on the left) and Miss Fenway three years ago I fell madly and deeply in love and it was at that first meeting that I decided I had to adopt a pug QUICKLY or I would surely die.

When my black pug puppy arrives she will be dubbed Vera Wang and of course she will wear a pearl necklace and she will wear the latest fashions because, after all, she has to live up to her nemesis.

When the pugs checked in to our hotel last week I learned quickly what pug motherhood is all about:

The very first thing I learned about pugs is that they are companion dogs and by companion I mean COMPANION! As you can see, Ace inched his way onto the computer chair and pushed me right off and his sister was about to follow his lead. Trust me, pugs like to be as close to their humans as pawsible!

Another thing I learned was that pugs are crazy about peanut butter on a stick!

Another thing I learned about pugs is that they like to keep a watchful eye on everything that their companions are doing. Believe it or not, for the sake of my blog, I took this photo while I was taking a shower as proof that Ace and Fenway (and Daisy, of course) think I am fascinating!

And don't think for one second that I was the only fascinating human at our humble abode! It seems that Fenway found my fiance' (and his ear) very fascinating indeed!

Ace taught me that pugs are very sensitive! Here he is looking pathetically sad after I told  him it's not okay to use the kitchen floor as a bathroom. Trust me, he got the message, loud and clear!

But the most important lesson I learned about pugs is that Daisy wouldn't mind having a little pug (or two) in her life!

  1. Ahhh very cute. ut there a pugalicious in your future?
    Benny & Lily

  2. pugs must be related to frenchies...we're so like that...the best little companions...gosh wish you lived near providence, we could use some pet sitting sometimes!

    miles and betty

  3. Hummmmmm is your pack about to .... expand????

  4. I'm so excited that I got your blog to load today!!! I've not been able to visit because our high speed here at home isn't fast enough to load your page for some reason...But today I thought I'd try it and it did!! YAY!!! :-0
Now I forgot what I was going to say...Oh yeah, I agree with you about about Pugs. They have truly grown on me!! I hope your week is off to a good start!!! ;-)))

  5. Pugs are totally cool. It would be great if you got a Vera Wang, especially if it was OK with Daisy.

    wags, Lola

  6. Guess what, peoples! My pawsome dad took the computer to see Dr. Staples this morning and guess what the doc had to say? It turns out that the computer was infected with over 300 viruses and that certainly explains why everybuddy was complaining about the slooooooowness and the obnoxious pop-up stuffs. So thank the good Lord that my dad has a trusty laptop fur my mom to use in the meantime!
    Love, Daisy

  7. I love the picture of Miss Daisy and Fenway! How cute is that. Nothing Like using Miss Daisy as a pillow!

  8. Aw. I love pugs too. One of my favorite dogs. Vera Wang sounds like a perfect name for a pug.

  9. i loves that name~!! VERA WANG--tres chic~!! i can't wait to see the little one~! :)

  10. They are hopelessly cute! I love the name idea! We'll be watching for that new puppy to arrive any day now!

  11. Olive is always being mistaken for a Pug. Guess that's not so bad at all.

  12. That black adorable pug face has left me weak!

  13. Very exciting news about the new pup. Can't waits to meet Vera Wang. :)

    WOofs and Licks,
    Maggie Mae

  14. This is an exciting post!! I agree you MUST have a pug! Daisy told me herself!

  15. Well, well, well..

I MAY be partial, but I LOVE pugs!

hehehe! Ok, I am definitely partial.

But everything you have said is true. Pugs are affectionate and clingy. They are the ONLY breed of dog that was bred for no purpose other than companionship... and my, are they good at it!

Great with kids, great with other animals, and as I have always said... you MUST have a sense of humor to own a pug. They are hysterical!

So, yeah... we support your puglove over here. :)

    Pearl & momma
