I
bought an alarm clock radio at a yard sale for $3 on Saturday for my blind Shih Tzu mix client, Addie, because research has shown that classical music is therapeutic for dogs who suffer from separation anxiety.
I told myself that she would like it but I didn't have proof until her last visit when I unplugged it so I could take it home and as soon as I did that she walked over to the table where the radio had been and started whining!
At first I thought she wanted a treat but she showed no interest and then it struck me that she missed the radio so I brought it back and the whining stopped and she smiled and I did too.

That is hilarious. Mom plays classical music for us when she leaves the house too

I gasped in amazement, smiled, and then laughed! She's a smart girl! I think it's great that your mom plays classical music for you when she leaves the house!
ReplyDeletethat was very nice of you april...our momma leaves the tv on for us when she leaves, maybe she should change over to music instead.

Thank you for saying (barking) that, Stella Rose! Don't let her change to music if you are watching your favorite shows!
DeleteWhat a wonderful thing to do. Our dogs love music especially Celtic and New Age stuff. They curl right up and fall asleep to it.
ReplyDeleteCeltic New Age music is very soothing for sure. I had Addie listening to NPR on Saturday and then switched to oldies (60's - 80's) music and I think the oldies was what she liked best since she whined when I attempted to take the radio home!
