Show Your Pets Some Love During National Pet Dental Health Month!

February is National Pet Dental Health Month so there’s no better time to show your pets you love them by looking closely at their teeth.

Keeping teeth clean at home depends on how willing your pet is.  Your dental ‘tool chest’ should include some combination of dental diet, chews, toys, water additives, and brushing.  Be aware of the magic potions you see on the internet.  Believe it or not, they tend to stretch the truth a bit.

Here are some signs to look for that could indicate oral disease:
  • Bad breath
  • Loose, infected or missing teeth
  • Red, bleeding, eroding, receding or swollen gums
  • Yellowish-brown plaque or tartar

Many veterinarians offer discounted dental exams and cleanings this month in honor of National Pet Dental Health Month, so now is a purrfect time to schedule an exam.

I'm going to show my pets some love this month by taking them to get a dental exam, are you?

  1. Great nashers is a must. Unfortunately our Pip is too old to have anything done. Peeps keeps an eye on mine and I get dried food at night to help. Have a terrific Thursday.

  2. My boys eat a primarily raw diet, and as a result have nice clean teeth. I always ask my vet if they need a cleaning, and so far, he's said Not Yet!

  4. We love the smile in that first photo... too funny. We don't like having our teeth messed with, so don't tell HH about this Dental Health Month.... Yikes.

  5. I just scheduled Riley for her first dental cleaning on next Wednesday! I'm super excited about getting the brown crap off of her teeth. Hopefully she won't need anything major done.
