Local Injured Chocolate Lab, Zoey, Surpasses Donation Goal

Do you remember my post about Zoey, the six year old chocolate lab, who was shot in the face by a neighbor in Eliot, Maine? If you remember, I informed you that she had a Go Fund Me page to raise money for veterinary bills with the goal of $10,000 and I am happy to report that in 11 days that goal was surpassed by $275! All remaining funds will be donated to the Cocheco Valley Humane Society and the NHSPCA. If you would like to visit the Go Fund Me page to view updates on Zoey's progress or to donate, please do!

The picture above is a remarkable one because Zoey's feeding tube has been removed and she now is hand fed by the doctor and staff! She is one strong girl whose tongue is now on the mend and is recuperating faster than anyone could've imagined! Here's  hoping that the person who shot her will be brought to justice soon!

I will be sure to update you on her progress as time goes on! Thanks for donating and for keeping her in your prayers!

Local Chocolate Lab, Zoey, Seeks Donations After Being Shot in the Face

I'd like to share a story about a chocolate lab named Zoey who lives a short distance from me in Eliot, Maine, who was shot in the mouth with a shotgun because I find it remarkable that she is recuperating despite the odds. On January 9th, Zoey was let out by her mother to go to the bathroom.  Approximately 30 minutes later she returned bleeding profusely from her face.

Remarkably she made it home on her own with a bloody trail left behind in the snow. Her blood-splattered tracks with occasional wide-dark pools of blood where she collapsed is a reminder of her strength and determination to live.

Her prognosis is fairly good but she has a long road ahead.  The hospital  is working very hard to save her tongue that was almost destroyed by the shot as seen in the x-ray. She is on a feeding tube during this process and adjusting well.  The process will be slow and arduous.  The outpouring of love and support from near and far has been heart-warming.  So many people have asked if they could make a donation.  If you would like to help any donation will be greatly appreciated. The goal is to raise $10,000 and so far donations have totaled a little over $5,000 in just two days!
