11 Pre-Thanksgiving Friends I'm Grateful For This Season
It's not even Thanksgiving and I'm already busy with 11 friends who needed TLC while their parents were away doing some early celebrating!
First up is Del who looks as if he should be on the cover of cooking magazine, doesn't he?
Next up is Bullet who waited every day for me to let him outdoors but I explained that he needed to be inside for safety reasons!
Next is Bullet's siblings Boomer (black pit bull mix) and Tallulah who had lots of energy to burn!
Next is (from front to back) Snoopy, Carter, and Carly who love walking in all types of weather!
Then I had the pleasure of taking care of Henry (left) and Max who waited for their siblings,
Stu (left) and Ava to come in from their walk!
It goes without saying that I am grateful for these friends during this Thanksgiving season!

10 Hidden Dangers in Thanksgiving Holiday Fare
Since Thanksgiving will be here soon I thought I would remind you to be mindful of the following ten hidden dangers in holiday fare:
1) Turkey skin, drippings, or gravy – These can lead to pancreatitis or inflammation of the stomach or intestines.2) Turkey Bones – The bones are extremely brittle and can puncture and break inside their digestive tract. NEVER give your pet a cooked turkey bone to chew on!
3) Corn on the Cob – Leads to intestinal blockages.
4) Stuffing – The onions and garlic are toxic as well as many of the spices that are used. Sage is extremely upsetting to cats.
5) Raisins/Grapes – These are harmful to a dog’s kidneys.
6) Mushrooms – These can produce damage to a number of internal organs, including kidneys, liver, and the central nervous system. If a dog eats mushrooms, seizures, coma, vomiting, even death can occur.
7) Mashed Potatoes – The butter and fat can cause pancreatitis.
8) Candied Yams – Too much butter and fat leads to an inflamed pancreas.
9) Bread Dough – According to ASPCA experts, “when raw bread dough is ingested, an animal’s body heat causes the dough to rise in his stomach. As it expands, the pet may experience vomiting, severe abdominal pain and bloating, which could become a life-threatening emergency, requiring surgery.”
10) Chocolate – Chocolate, especially Baker's Chocolate can make your pet severely ill or even kill them if ingested.
It is my hope that you will keep this list in mind as you gather around the table with your loved ones this Thanksgiving!

Daisy Heads to K9 Kaos For a Bath
Did you know there's a self-serve dog washing station in K9 Kaos on 432 Sixth Street in Dover for just $15? Daisy rolled in something unpleasant to me but pleasant for her on Sunday night so she was off to get a bath the following day!
There was nothing complicated about the set up of the bath (no appointment necessary) or in the actual wash because everything was right there for us (shampoo, conditioner, cologne and perfume, thick towels, and a dryer) including treats for being a brave soul! Plus, there was no clean up! It's so much easier to give Daisy a bath here than at home where she can easily hop out and clog the drain with her fur!
If you live in the Dover, NH, area and are in need of a self-serve dog wash this is the place to do it!

Buster Visits the Vet Three Times!
He enjoyed the attention almost as much as he loved the car ride (he loves being a backseat driver)! She suggested a cytology (a non-invasive test to find out what the mass was) and go from there. She said it was alarming that the other vet wanted to set up a surgery without a lot of questions answered.
Buster looked as comfortable as he does at home but that didn't stop me from worrying over the vet's concern that he might have a tumor or cyst in his nostril which makes sense since that could be the cause of his lack of an appetite.
A few days later I scheduled the cytology test and waited all weekend for the results which was that he has a non-spreadable tumor but it might be causing him to not feel well in other areas. I'm thankful he doesn't have cancer! She also found out that he was retaining fluid in his mass so she drained a lot of it and now his lump isn't as scary to feel!
The vet and I are concerned about his upper respiratory infection because it affects his appetite. He throws up the medication and he ignores the probiotic which is sprinkled on his meals which is supposed to encourage him to eat. He is not a candidate for surgery due to the reasons I mentioned earlier. The vet wants to do more tests but I don't know if they will give answers to this issue. The vet seems to be leaning to just trying to keep him comfortable, to stop his medication, and see if he'll get his appetite back. So far it is a waiting game and, meanwhile, Buster is tired and just doing a lot of resting like you see here in the back of my car on our trip home from the vet after the testing was done! Thanks for your interest in my guy.
