When my parents adopted me I was convinced they thought I was a labrador retriever because they expected me to jump right into this lake and start swimming just like labs do.
Try as they might, my parents couldn't get me to touch the water! Dry land was where I belonged as far as I was concerned!
But I changed my mind about the whole dry land thing when I met my tall, dark, and handsome friend, Zeus, who just so happens to be a labrador retriever who loves to get wet
in his very own swimming pool!
Since I kinda have a crush on Zeus I didn't want him to think I was afraid of the water so I stuck my toes and then my nose in the pool
and then I jumped in with all four feet!
And then Zeus congratulated me for taking the plunge by introducing me to the game of soccer!
But I wondered if he was just leading me on
to dry land instead?
No, he just needed a quick break and then he followed me back into the pool for another game of soccer and then I introduced him to tennis! Now that I'm not afraid to get off dry land, Zeus and I can get to know each other better in his private pool! Woof!
Maybe I need to bring Sam over - can you teach him to like water?
ReplyDeleteSam
PAWsonally I think you had the right idea. Water is mostly for drinking. I WILL go for a bit of a wade in my lake butt... Well, that is mostly beclaws I like to pull sticks and leaves and rocks and clams out. hehehehe
ReplyDeleteI have never tried to play soccer. I think you have to be with somebuddy else. It is grrreat that Zeus taught you how to play that game. Do you always let him win????
Wow...luv can sure make you do some CRAZY things! I'm still not all that sure about water but I'm real impressed that you kinda like it now. Who knows? Maybe one day I'll be a water dog, too! Or...not.
ReplyDeleteWiggles & Wags,

That looks like a cool game for summer!

Don't fool yourself - not all Labs love water - our Java made Mom carry an umbrella when they would go for walkies.

And, Sam, and everybuddy else out there who wants to learn to swim...please come on over and I'll teach you everything I know BUTT keep your paws off my man..got it?
Also, thanks for telling me that not all labs like to swim! I am going to share that tidbit with my mom!
What a cute post with 2 gorgeous doggies!...Hope you guys have a fun evening...kisses friends...xo...Calle, Halle, Sukki
ReplyDeleteVery cool, Daisy, that your friend coaxed you in to the water! I wish Marge would learn to enjoy it. Currently, she only likes wading a few inches deep.
ReplyDeleteYou're both gorgeous! Isn't it funny how just a single moment can change your perspective? It looks like you'll ge to enjoy being together wherever you go now!

I've taken a lot of dogs for swim therapy after surgery and there have been some of them that took to it like a fish--Others, if they never saw another body of water again, they'd be happy!! It's wonderful and so much fun when they do enjoy it, isn't it?? :-) Hope you're having a great weekend!!
ReplyDeleteVery cute post! My Angel dog Lola, fell into a pond in Golden Gate Park when she was young, and as a result didn't really like to go in the water. But a couple of years later when she was playing with a much older doggie, she followed her friend straight into the stream to go wading. I think it's good to have a doggie friend to show pups the ropes.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you two had a great time, swimming and playing soccer! Have a fun weekend too!

Water, huh? I'm against it unless it comes in a bowl. But...the things we do for love...
ReplyDeletewags, Lola
I know so many dogs don't like getting wet--I think our Miss M. is part cat. I guess you're just a natural.
ReplyDeleteWe are not so keen on the water - maybe we should come over and you could teach us.
ReplyDeleteOr rather Zeus could. We must say Daisy you have the look of a basset to us - well OK you got long legs but apart from that - bassets don't really do water!
xxxx
ps maybe we shouldn't come over as we are two girls who rather like labs!
Hey!thans for visiting us. we are forever eager to make new friends, however many legged they maybe!

April and Daisy,
ReplyDeleteI think it is good that you like the water. Bambi use to love the water and then one summer night she almost drown and that was the end of water for her. It like pullin teeth to give her a bath.
XXO, Bambi & Fern
Gosh! I sure hope Zeus realizes the sacrifices you are making for him. If he doesn't his head must be made of concrete!

I've tried 2 different times to take your banner to my blog and I can't get it to work. Is anyone else having this problem?
ReplyDeleteheehee this is verreh cute! the things a girl will do to get noticed... the toys you asked about are verreh cool. i like them myself, and i play with them until they are completely demolished. my mommeh says they seem to be ping-pong balls wrapped in a dried corn husk or something like that. it is verreh crinkly sounding when i play with it, which i like.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comments. I was trying to fix the problem right when you were posting. All better now. My daughter was just checking out your blog along with me, she is 21 and hasn't met a dog she didn't love. She isn't in to my blogs, but was loving yours and all the ones on your sidebar. As for me, I just love the thrill of the hunt and what I can find out there, old is better than new at Target anyday. Have a great day. Sherrie
ReplyDeleteYour dogs are just so sweet!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for joining my blog party! Whether it's blue or not, it doesn't matter, it's just nice of you to have joined in!
Have a wonderful weekend and thanks so much for stopping by.
Sincerely,
Melinda
Girl, You can so haves your water..I prefer mine in a bowl. But, I think it's very awesome that you are willing to try new things fur a beaudog...actually, now that I thinks about it, that's just kinda weird...hehehe!
ReplyDeletePuddles
Very fun times. It's almost warm enough here for both the dogs and the humans to swim.
ReplyDeleteSounds like Love to me.
ReplyDeleteI saw you on BlogHer and your story sounded so interesting! I am getting ready to be a teacher (if I ever find a job). I just graduated and got my license. It's scary how many people LEAVE the profession!! But it looks like you're having a blast with the dogs :)
