What happens when white vinegar, rubbing alcohol, generic betadine antiseptic solution, and powdered boric acid are in a line up?
Absolutely nothing! But when 2 ounces of white vinegar, 6 ounces of rubbing alcohol, 1/2 teaspoon of generic betadine solution, and 1/2 teaspoon of powdered boric acid are mixed up together they become a very effective anti-fungal dog ear wash.
To use this recipe simply pour a small amount of the mix into each of your dog's ears
and then massage each ear gently with a cotton ball or tissue to distribute the mix.
If you apply this recipe to your dog's ears twice per day for one week your tissues will be covered in "gunk" but if you are faithful with the treatment you will notice that your dog's ears are cleaner and healthier than ever. Just be sure to continue applying the recipe once per day during the following week and then once per month for maintenance.
And even if your dog shakes its head "no" to the recipe he/she will be pawsitively happy to have clean and ears once again!
I haven't seen this particular remedy before. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThanks, I've been looking for something we can provide for Mack's ears. We'll give it a try for sure.

Wow, that's good to know! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI think some Curly could use this... thanks for the heads up :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome post! Momma uses a secret basset ear cleaner formula on our ears that is pretty similar to your recipe. Instead of white vinegar/rubbing alcohol our recipe uses wintergreen alcohol, which leaves our ears smelling minty fresh!

Interesting! My spotted sister Faith often has ear infections. She's had it SO many times already my hoomies are thinking of removing her ears (not really) because it's so irritating. Faith is basically causing it herself. She has this very very bad habit of licking all her paws everyday till raw & then when she uses her back feet to scratch her ears, her dirty saliva goes into her ears & that's how infection starts! She has extremely sensitive ears so I don't know if it'll be a good idea to apply this solution in them especially with the vingar. What do you think?
ReplyDeleteThanks for that, only we won't tell the human, she's forever cleaning our ears out, we even have to have the hairs plucked from ours or we get infections! xx
ReplyDeleteSeriously, you do knows my mum can and will blow things up withs dis recipe...and her was a chemistry major...bwhahahahaha!

April, no vets have told me to give her the Devils Claw. I take it for my lower back and it has helped me a lot so I thought I would try it on her and there was deffenitlly difference for her as well. I have not seen any bad but I probably wouldn't see anything until it is too late. But I thought well she is almost 14 years old now so I thought it was worth the cahance. It seems to do nothing but good for both of us.
ReplyDeleteI told Tom about your vinegar and he said we have never had a fungal problem with Bambi's ears so we didn't need to use the vinegar. April we work very hard trying to take good care of ourselves and our animals. Happy is somewhere between 18 to 20 years old. We have old animals!!
Thanks for you visit!!
