I don't have to worry about bad luck coming my way today because Friday the 13th arrived two days early and here's the saga:
You know how dogs act like they want to do their business on a hotter than h-e-double-hockey-sticks day (like it was two days ago) but quickly change their minds as soon as their paws hit the ground?
Well, that's exactly what happened with Daisy except she decided it would be cooler (literally) to crawl under her friend's deck and stay there for what I thought would be a few minutes. However, the minutes ticked by and it was obvious she wouldn't budge until she was good and ready but I was panicking while asking myself if she was pretending to be stuck, if she would ever crawl out on her own, or if she would dehydrate or worse.
The other reason why I was irritated was because Daisy ignored me while I calmly asked her to come to me (even with treats in hand) and when that didn't work I resorted to yelling (yes, I admit it).
Another factor for my irritation was that I had more dog walks to get to at a specified time and I didn't want to leave her but I had to! To make myself feel better about that I came back to her after every visit. Still no luck.
Hi Teacher's Pet! That is some scary bidness! I have a special shady spot that I run to when it is very hot here. I have no choice - all the holes were plugged when I came to live here and I am not much of a digger. I can sympathize with Daisy, though. Who likes burnt tootsies?
ReplyDeleteGlad your tale had a curly tail ending.

Hello Noodles! Yes, it was scary but I knew Daisy was cool down there but I wondered how long she'd be cool though. I was irritated too (as you read) because I needed to go, go, go! Now that I look back I can laugh but I didn't laugh then!
DeleteI'm glad you finally got Daisy out from under the deck! Maybe it was cooler under there?
ReplyDeleteYes, it was a lot cooler down there so I have to give her credit for that! Smart girl.
DeleteGlad she finally came out. Must be a pretty cool place under the deck.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Goose
I'm glad she finally came out too especially since I didn't want her to live under there! LOL
DeleteOh wow!! Awwww Daisy!!! You are too adventurous! But we are glad you are now out from under there!! Phew! Take care

Hello...Daisy here. Yup, I'm very adventurous! I figured my mom needed some excitement in her life. That's a service I provide! LOL
DeleteMy two kittens are Bengal cats too you know??? They are for sure different!!!
ReplyDeletePoor Daisy she didn't want to go walk in the heat!! LOL
I agree that Daisy was smart that she didn't want her toes getting so hot but I wasn't even going to walk her, that's the thing!
DeleteYes, I know you have Bengals and you are soooo lucky. I love them!
Thus ruining one of the great human-dog games which are bound to be won by the dog.
ReplyDeleteThat's for sure! Of course, Daisy had to choose a hot day when I was busy and didn't have time for games! After the saga was over she was barking with excitement as if nothing ever happened! Grrrr.
DeleteOh no! I bet you're relieved!
ReplyDeleteI sure was! I was thinking that if she didn't come out my friend would have a permanent pet (kinda like having a woodchuck under her porch or some other critter that she'd be feeding for the rest of her life)! LOL
