Axle Introduces Me to His Chicken Family

After I walked this very handsome, mellow, and kind boy named Axle I gave him a few treats and then he smiled and said I couldn't leave until he introduced me to the rest of his family

so he stood in front of this door and

I peered inside to meet these curious ladies.

And then these ladies came out to investigate their visitor! Since I don't know chicken breeds at all I asked the owner to help me identify them: the black and white one is "Barred" or "Fatty" because she's a Barred Rock and she never stops eating
The all black one is "Jersey", she is a Jersey Giant.
The tan one is "Buff", she is a Buff Orpington.

To top off the fun of meeting the chickens I decided to gather their eggs and found it to be as easy and as exciting as could be. I've always wanted to try my hand at being a farmer and this experience was as close as I've ever come to it!

Afterwards I reached under this cozy coop (built by Axle's contractor dad who operates Stripto Builders in Dover)to pick up

this beautiful chicken! As you can see, I was thrilled to hold a chicken for the very first time!

As the caption of my blog states, "Life is a treat for a teacher and her pets", and it certainly is!

    1. You could talk to them about your adventures while they clucked back. Wouldn't that be interesting? LOL

  3. We would like to chase those chickens. Do you think that would be possible if we came over?

    Have a great day.
