Henry's Road Trip Towards Recovery

On Saturday morning my mom let me be her co-pilot and I was thrilled about that because I really dig looking out at the trees and the snow at a fast pace. What I didn't know was that she was taking me to the

dreaded v-e-t to get my hyperthyroid panel checked. See,ever since I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism last January she's had to put this

gel stuff (my mom calls it methimazole) in each ear lobe every morning and night to help get my thyroid regulated. In  my opinion, the stuff is working but my mom thinks it isn't because I'm not as excited about food as I used to be so off we go...

So while this nosy critter was staring at me my mom got the results of my weight (7.98 pounds) which the vet said was a big improvement over the 7.62 pounds I weighed in January 2012.  Let me tell you, my mom thought the vet was crazy to think I look good because years ago I looked healthier at 12 pounds!

So the vet said that when the panel results come back she can decide if my dose needs to go up or down and then hopefully I will be

on the road to recovery! As soon as I get my results back I will give you an update as soon as pawsible! Okay?

Henry

  8. Hello Everybuddy!
Thanks for telling me that I look good for my age! I really appreciate it but my mom still insists that I gain 2 or 3 pounds so I can look better! The vet said I look svelte. My mom muttered under her breath, "Crazy!", so I'm trying to eat more kibble and Fancy Feast but if you have other food suggestions please send 'em my way.
The panels came back yesterday and it revealed I am HYPO in the thyroid department instead of HYPER which means that my thyroid is either under active or I'm healed. The vet said I need a lower dose of that gel stuff. We shall see....Henry
