Daisy's Surgery Update and More!

Dear Friends,

First of all, I am happy to report that Daisy finally went on a ten minute walk last night and she pooped for the first time since Saturday! Also, last night was the first time that Daisy ate more than half of her regular meal and did the same this morning!

Also, I want to thank everyone for your support, donations, and well wishes! Ever since Daisy was struck by a car on Saturday I have been overwhelmed with helping her recuperate, raise money for her surgery, and more recently, getting the details finalized for her surgery which is scheduled for 8 a.m., Tuesday, December 18th. I had a choice of scheduling the surgery after Christmas but the vet advised me that her healing process and her pain level would be prolonged if I waited.

Even though I've gotten a lot of moral support from friends I'm a nervous wreck and haven't had enough restful sleep in days! I've never had children so I've never experienced dropping off a loved one at the surgeon's office! Of course, I dropped Henry off for surgery due to a benign tumor and to get his tooth pulled in 2004 but Daisy's surgery is much more extensive than that! Luckily, I have a busy day all set up on Tuesday to help me get my mind off Daisy's situation but I am sure I will be thinking of her often!

The first order of business is for me to pick up her Fentanyl patch prescription today and then on Monday the vet will put the patch on her and also do some pre-surgery blood work.

After surgery, she is going to need to rest quietly for 8 days and then after Christmas she is going to need to start doing her exercises with me and possibly have a few sessions of physical therapy.

As you know, Elderpet agreed to loan $800.00 for Daisy's surgery and $260.00 has gone into my Go Fund Me account (thank you so much)!

I never expected to gain the amount of money I've received from friends inside and outside Blogville, clients, and anonymous givers and I appreciate it so much! Luckily, the vet is allowing me to spread out payments for the balance so if you haven't donated please click on the Go Fund Me link on my sidebar. Of course, if all you can do is offer advice and lend a comforting paw/hand I appreciate that as well! Thank you!

  1. We are keeping Daisy and you in our prayers. I am glad she is having surgery on the 18th instead of after Christmas. On Tuesday just keep taking deep breaths.

  4. please keep "Go Fund Me" open through January and we should be able to donate at that time. We are kind of broke now. But if the vet is spacing out payments, that should still help, we hope!
    Praying for Daisy!

  9. I'd love to write to everyone who commented tonight but I'm exhausted from the drama of the day so I will send a hug to everyone who commented and to all who read this post and I'm off to bed! Hopefully I will sleep better than I did last night! Good night, dear friends, and thank you for thinking of us!

  11. April try and take it easy this weekend if you can. We know how awful it is to drop your pets off at the vet and then you just pace around unable to settle. Please don't reply as we don't see them as we do not go back to old posts. Keep us posted on how things are. We send healing paw and kind thoughts.
    Take Care.
    Best wishes Molly
