Ever since Daisy got hit by a car on Saturday she hasn't had any interest in eating her regular meals so I gave her slices of cheese, milk bones, cat treats (believe it or not she loves cat treats), and bologna as alternatives but she snubbed her nose at all of them. I completely forgot that chicken would entice her to eat so I bought a package of Sara Lee roasted chicken and
as soon as I held a slice of chicken in front of her nose she perked up, ate that slice and proceeded to eat the entire package within minutes!
As you can see by her eyes-as-wide-as-saucers expression, she probably
wondered why I didn't think of giving her chicken on the day of the
accident, right?
P.S. So far the Go Fund Me donation total is $190.00 and I am overwhelmed with everyone's generosity! Every donation no matter what the size is appreciated! If you haven't received my thank you note/e-mail yet it is on the way!I'm hoping to schedule her surgery next week or a few days after Christmas!

Daisy is keeping me busy running back and forth to the store for chicken! I'm going to break out the pots and pans and start cooking chicken and rice rather than give her packaged chicken!

ReplyDeleteI read down a bit to see what happened, and I noticed something that may help you. Is Daisy still taking the Tramadol? If so, that is probably a big factor in her lack of appetite ... it kills appetite big time in some dogs and people. This happened to us with our greyhound Emma a couple of years ago, and it was confirmed by my human neighbor and another friend who were both prescribed Tramadol after accidents.

We also gave zeus children's pedalite before his surgury when he wasn't eating good....another thing that works sometimes is cooked chicken breast in a little low sodium broth stella loves it. We are sending you out a card tomorrow.

Glad you got Daisy to eat that chicken, but yes, Hartwood Roses is right, Tramadol can do a number on the appetite. We all have our paws crossed for the surgery to go very well.

K9 Kaos in Dover, NH sells raw chicken patties. it's a dog's "natural food" that's a good choice for a fussy eater or a dog that needs some TLC.

ReplyDeleteOh I sure hope all goes well for sweet Daisy. I always cook up chicken and rice when Fred or Gloria won't eat. I'm happy to hear that you got Daisy to eat chicken. It is such a worry when they won't eat. Kepping her in our thoughts and prayers. :)

my pets always get chicken and rice when they don't feel good, I let the chicken cook in the slow cooker all day in chicken broth and they love it.
