Daisy's Car Accident

At noon yesterday Daisy and I were out for our typical walk when she suddenly noticed something interesting in the middle of the street, pulled at the leash, got loose, and then ran under a moving car and lay scared and motionless on her side for a few seemingly endless seconds!

At first I feared the worst but when I got to the car she lifted her head and looked traumatized. Because it was unsafe for her to move from under the car on her own I was relieved that she was immobile while I yelled for help. Luckily, a group of onlookers lifted the car and then carried her to a Good Samaritan's car (as seen above) and then I rode along with her to the Veterinary Emergency Hospital in Newington, NH.

While we traveled to the emergency hospital, Daisy was able to stand for minutes at a time which surprised me because her back left leg was weak. The vet later told us that Daisy had concurrent hip dysplasia prior to the accident but the accident put her hip out of socket. I have been told that she will need FHO surgery (femoral head and neck ostectomy) so that Daisy's hip can be put into its socket.

Daisy is now taking Tramadol for pain and the antibiotic, Cephalexin, as prescribed, and in the meantime, she is

resting quietly.

Tomorrow we will be visiting the vet to find out when Daisy will be ready for surgery and find out what the cost will be so please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

Thank you!
