Last Sunday we visited a unique pet store called Parrot Safari where we met this fine feathered friend named Layla. Isn't she gorgeous?
I love that the shop keepers allow their birds to leave their cage as often as they'd like! What a wonderful way to socialize birds such as Layla who did not receive the attention she deserved in her previous home and plucked her chest feathers off as a result.
As far as I was concerned, Layla met her one true love with my fiance, Amos! Don't they make a cute pair?
While watching Layla attempt to kiss my man's lips I was in love with her too. How we wish could take every displaced animal home with us but we'd need to rent a much larger home and and have a much larger bank account beforehand!
For now, we'll keep our lives simple (ha-ha) with our three true loves: Henry, Buster, and Daisy!
AWWW Layla is a beautiful bird! I'm sure someone else will adopt her.

Layla looked like she picked her hopeful new owner. To bad it didn't work out that way
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful bird.
ReplyDeleteI got my award! Best blogging award I have ever received. Thank you! And my 5 year old loves the dinosaur.
I loved seeing Layla!! She definitely liked your man!!! It is so nice that the store owner lets the birds out of their cage.

Awwww Layla is truly wonderful!! I remember watching a programme about rescued pet parrots in an animal sanctuary here and it was heartbreaking! Parrots are so intelligent they need lots of mental stimulation but if not given proper care and attention, they take their frustration out on themselves and start plucking their feathers. There were all these poor beautiful nearly bald parrots in this sanctuary. It was so sad to see!!
ReplyDeleteSo yay for these pet shop owners!!! And yay for you and Amos!!!! Me and Charlie hope wonderful Layla finds a forever home! Take care
x
Nice to hear that Layla and her feathered friends are treated well until they find good homes who will treat them as they should be treated.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful bird. Cannot understand people who don't think animals....any animal needs to get out for awhile. Hope she finds a great home soon.

Layla is gorgeous! And how cool that she bonded so sweetly to Amos! Sad that you could not get her, but hopefully she will find a wonderful forever home soon.

Pretty birdie! Pretty birdie!! (sorry, couldn't resist!) I have to share this with my parrot loving friend that lives in Arizona...sending her the link right now!
ReplyDeleteHow cute!! Of all the pets I've ever had, there have been no birds. Unless you count injured birds that my cats brought home when I was young.
ReplyDeleteYes April, I am in Florida the sunshine state!!!
ReplyDeleteIt is a good thing that the rest of you don't know how wonderful it can be here, or you all would live in Florida!!! Then Fla would sink!!
lol
