How I Accidentally Ruined A Perfect Saturday Afternoon

Yes, my knees went weak this weekend because I spent time with 4 impossibly cute dogs but I also spent 4 hours in the emergency room on Saturday afternoon because a driver struck the passenger side of my car. The sun was partly to blame because it caused both parties to think we had a green light but in fact it was just the opposite; my light had just turned red but the sunlight changed the appearance and I thought I was doing the right thing by heading down the street. Not so, as you can see!

As soon as my car was struck I started screaming at the top of my lungs and I was in such shock that I didn't think to turn the wheel away from the sidewalk. My screams intensified when I looked down at the blood that spurted onto my gym shorts, not knowing how or why I was bleeding. Of course I should have been concerned about the blood, the condition of my car, etc, but I was more concerned about the two little dogs, Lola and Sheepie, who were waiting for their pet sitter to walk them. I was supposed to be there by 3pm; it was 3:30 and my phone was nowhere to be found. As the EMT's, policemen, firemen, crowded around my car all I wanted was for one of them to contact my fiance'/pet sitting partner so he could visit the dogs. I was flabbergasted that they wouldn't cooperate so I started tossing everything from the passenger seat onto the floor in an effort to find my phone. I found my phone alright....half of it....and boy was I upset!

By this point, I was hysterical.....

After enduring 9 stitches under my chin, a tetanus shot, a CAT scan of my swollen neck, 2 sprained wrists, I emptied my belongings from my embattled Kia on Sunday afternoon.

Since it is a 50/50 chance that I ever drive this car again I decided to strike a pose for memories sake. This car saved my life and I am completely indebted to "her" and to God for keeping me safe during this ordeal because it certainly could've been worse. I am in a lot of pain but I am thankful to be alive and able to start the healing process by writing to all of my blogger pals!

Thank you for allowing me to vent and thank you in advance for reading this!

  29. Dear Blogger Buds,
Thank you so much for reaching out to a bruised and battered fellow blogger bud and I appreciate every single word! Thank you for telling me that I am going to heal and that I will get past this horrific event. As you know, dear friends, I thought of you while I was in the emergency room (hence the photos that were taken for your eyes only) and I felt comforted knowing that after I returned home I would at least hear from my virtual pals later on. What a comfort to know that I can vent and comfort will be provided in an instant. Please keep me in your thoughts as I am still in a lot of pain but because of you I am feeling like I have a cheering squad and I appreciate that so much! April
