Sound Advice Arrives At Daisy's Door

When Daisy looked out the window on Wednesday morning to see her new pal, Max, park his van in front of her house she wiggled and barked all the way downstairs

but as soon as a stranger yelled, "Cheese!", Daisy was silent and then smiled broadly, hoping for a piece of cheese as a reward

but instead of a cheesy reward,  Daisy was treated to a tour inside the Seacoast Veterinary Housecalls van where she met her new vet, Dr. Katharina Brandt. At first, Daisy wondered if the vet was going to take pictures of her bones with that yellow machine but that wasn't the case.

Or was she going to jail?  No, Daisy, you are not as small as Mr. Penguin so you aren't going behind bars anytime soon.

And then Daisy watched Dr. Brandt as she listened carefully to Mr. Penguin's heartbeat. Daisy hoped the doctor would listen to her heart too but that didn't happen either.

The reason why Daisy was in the van became very clear to her when the vet tech and the doctor examined her long, droopy ears. Daisy had been shaking her head back and forth for awhile and I was concerned that she could have an ear infection and ....

when Daisy heard me say, "Ewww!", and the doctor say, "Yeast Infection!" Daisy knew what was coming....

Two bottles of medicine along with explicit instructions to put drops in Daisy's ears for 10 days and to clean her ears regularly, especially after swimming.

To be honest, Daisy was very happy with everything about the vet visit until the word "medicine" reached her ears and who can blame her? Daisy changed her mind about the medicine after just 2 days of treatment and she now says that Dr. Brandt and company are welcome to visit again soon!

Having a mobile vet in New Hampshire is a brand new service to pet owners throughout the seacoast and to some cities nearby. Daisy and I found Seacoast Veterinary Housecalls to be convenient, cost-effective, and very intimate. If you have a mobile vet in your area, what are your thoughts about the service? If you don't have a mobile vet, would you like one? And why? Please voice your opinions! I'd love to read about them!

  1. Well now... I am kinda torn between a Squirrel and a Chipmunk here. It would be AWFUL to have the VET (GASP) drive right up to your personal private HOUSE/sanctuary and start the poke and prod thingy.. BUTT ... if you were really sicky and didn't feel like going for a RIDE in the CAR... now this would be grrrreat.
    I'm just sayin' here.

  4. I wish our vet would go mobile, that sure would be much easier. My sister Zoe had a yeast infection in her ear too, but she doesn't do any swimming, go figure!

  6. Mobile vet is a great idea if you have a number of pets. Then all can have check-ups, vaccination, etc at one go.

  12. I'm so sorry to hear about the ear infection! The mobile vet sounds fantastically awesome. We live only about a mile from Alice's vet, but with DC traffic, that trip can take a lifetime. How are their hours? Will they do special times, like early in the morning or later at night?

  13. We dont have one here where we lives, but it would be so grate if our vet da grate Dr.Greg had one. We would use it fursure. Non of us kittys likes goin in da PTU's or da truck. Dem doggys is nuts, de luvs goin fur rides in it! and Roxx is da only one who gets ear infections like dat, so da crazy lady gives her some yogurt evfurry day to help keep it at bay. So far so good!

  14. Thanks for the kind words you left on my blog! I hope you return to visit soon. Daisy, mom has an ear infection too and we know how unpleasant it is (she is kinda crabby). Take you medicine like a good girl and you will be better very soon. A Vet that comes to your house is a very cool concept.
