Handsome, Blue-Eyed Zildjian

Hi, my name is Zildjian and I am a male Birman Seal Point. I am 8 years old now. I bet you are wondering how I got my unusual name. Well, I’ll get to that in a few minutes. Right now, here is my story.....

My parents tried to adopt a shelter cat but every time they left their eyes were itchy and red which meant that they were allergic. They thought they wouldn't be able to adopt a cat until they became learned about Birman cats, a hypoallergenic breed of cat who are less likely to produce allergic reactions to some people.

When my parents visited the breeder, I was still too little to leave my mother. I was the most inquisitive of the litter. I was plain “nosey” and wanted to be smack dab in the middle of things. They chose me!

Now, here is the part where I get my name... the breeder said I needed a name that began with the letter “Z.” My owners went home and thought long and hard for a name that would suit me and nothing fit until they realized their entire household is made up of percussionists and then Zildjian came to mind. Zildjian is the famous maker of drum cymbals and it sounded exotic, too.

I have trained my parents well. My mom cuddles me as I sleep against her side every night. My dad is my playmate and our favorite game is "hide and seek". As you can see, I am very good at finding the best hiding spots!

Once I got settled in I started noticing that my mom was writing the word "VACATION" on her calendar and I heard her talk about leaving for 10 days, 12 days, and even 20 days and I was getting worried! What was I going to do without my parents? Who's going to feed me? Who's going to scoop my litter box? Who's going to put ice cubes in my bottled water?

My mom told me that pet sitters do all of those things and promised she would find one for me right away. But, she couldn't find anyone she liked (and I liked) until she met April. My mom just so happened to be standing in front our house when April and a dog named Sunshine walked by and when my mom found out April was a pet sitter, she hired her on the spot. After that, I was pampered with lots of petting, brushing, treats, play time, and all-around affection every time my parents left town and I couldn't be happier!

  6. While Zildjian is a little different, I grew up with Siamese cats and I think they have so much personality and character--and sweet Zildjian looks like he (?) has all that and then some!!

I am also very, very thankful to have a good pet-sitter/dog walker, the service people like you so lovingly provide is truly invaluable!!

  7. You are a very beautiful cat. I've always loved Seal Points. I wish I could have one but Rob is very allergic to cats.

  11. My grandpa, who I never met, since he died about 25 years before I was born, was a drummer and Blog Mom says that Zildjian was a household word in her home growing up. It's a wonderful name for a cat, anyway.
