Buster and Henry Test the Waters

It's no secret that I love to hunt for deals at yard sales so when I purchased this vintage goblet I envisioned it as a candy dish but  Buster thought it should be used as a water bowl.

It's also no secret that I love to end my day with a cup of tea so finding the large cup (above)was a dream come true but as soon as began washing it Henry jumped into the sink and began slurping to his heart's content.

I'd like to think my cats share my love of yard sales but the reality is that they want to wait to see what I bought for THEM.

What goodies have you bought for yourself and later found that your cats wanted them instead?

And The Winner Of The Silly Saturday Contest Is....

Thanks to all who pawticipated in the Silly Saturday Photo Caption Contest because without you I would never understand why (or how) Daisy rearranges our her pillows soon after we arrange them to our liking. As it turns out, Daisy's two feline elves (Henry and Buster) have been doing the rearranging all along without as much of a meow as a giveaway! If it weren't for

Maddy and Owen's skillful diagnosis of the situation, I would've had to live with an unsolved mystery. So, thank you, Maddy and Owen, for saying-

"I just found them this way...I think the cat might have done it for me...Remind me to thank her when I wake up!"

Thank you for pawticipating in this really fun (and really silly) Silly Saturday Photo Caption Contest! I appreciate that you've taken a few minutes to get your sillies together for this contest!

Please congratulate Maddy and Owen for a job well done and please do yourself a favor and follow their blog because as newbies they have a really cute and entertaining blog for all to enjoy!

Can You Explain Why Daisy Rearranges Our Pillows With A Caption?

Does your dog rearrange your pillows soon after you've neatly stacked them at the head of the bed? And if so have you ever asked your dog why the bed has to be made THEIR way instead of YOUR way? I've asked Daisy for an explanation but all I can get out of her is a blank stare.

Maybe you can help me understand what dogs are thinking when they build their "nest" by captioning this photo. Please help and if your caption is the silliest of all you will -

  • receive a silly gift from me in the mail

  • be added to my SILLY SATURDAY HALL OF FAME on my sidebar and you'll be envied by all of the residents of Blogville.

She is also a budding actress and has been in a  Johnson & Johnson's Savlon Soap commercial for India 3 years ago but it did not air. And The Winner Of The Silly Saturday Photo Caption Contest Is....

It was royally hard to choose the best caption for Daisy especially since they were all so clever but I finally chose ...

"Hmmm, I wonder if my beautician could make me look that good?"

which was submitted by Sarge himself!

If you ask me, Sarge really understands what goes on in the mind of a woman who sees a knockout like Daisy! Congratulations, Sarge! Your name has been added to the Silly Saturday Hall of Fame and you will be receiving a certificate and silly prize in the mail as soon as pawsible!

On a side note, did you know you can put your favorite pictures on a billboard, on a museum wall, in an egg, or a sketch (like the one above) with the help of  http://www.Dumpr.net?

I know you will have a lot of fun with dumpr.net and your pets (and your humans) will too!

It's Silly Saturday Photo Caption Time Again!

Let's face it, the soon-to-be princess and wife of Prince William, Kate Middleton, has been getting way too much attention lately (according to Daisy) so she took matters into her own paws because she thinks furry princesses need attention too!

What do you think? Will Daisy become more famous now that she is on the cover of a magazine decorating a bus stop? Or is she going a bit too far fur attention? You be the judge! Caption her, please, and

The lucky winner will -

  • receive a silly gift from me in the mail

  • be added to my SILLY SATURDAY HALL OF FAME on my sidebar and you'll be envied by all of the residents of Blogville.

And the details of the contest are -

An Unlikely Friendship

I just hate it when my human packs her suitcase because it means that I will be subjected to a visit from my cat sitter, Miss April, who has tried to befriend me for three whole years and she's still trying, poor girl. What she doesn't realize is that Willow is not interested in making friends with anyone other than my human and

Annie but only IF I am in a good mood which is rare, by the way.

So because my pet sitter was so clueless obstinate stupid determined to befriend me she pulled out my most hated toy, Mr. Short Stuff, out of the basket and led him to my water bowl. Hello! Mr. Short Stuff isn't real! Get a clue, Miss April!

Errr....I take that back, Miss April! This little guy has racing paws that just keep going and going and

going! Where does he get all of that energy, anyway? If I were a betting girl, I'd swear he was running on alkaline or lithium or something else more powerful than me!

So I outsmarted him by jumping up to my tower of pillows where Mr. Short Stuff couldn't reach me but those short legs of his carried him all the way up to my bed anyway!

What should I do now? I don't dare swat him because he could bite me. Running away won't help because he's sure to find me. Hissing won't work because he'll just bark right back.  If you ask me, I don't have any other choice but to let him be my friend. Who knows? He just might be the purrfect friend, thanks to Miss April!

And The Newest Silly Saturday Photo Caption Winners Are

These pictures of Fenway certainly did spark a whole lot of silliness this weekend and I am so glad you had so much fun describing her!

I must admit that all of your captions were laugh-out-loud hilarious but the rules of the Silly Saturday Photo Caption Contest only allowed me to choose two caption contest winners, unfortunately. So, the first caption that tickled my funny bone was:

"Mr. Sheen, your new Goddess is here." by Foley Monster and Pocket

How could I resist a good 'ol reference to Charlie Sheen, anyway? Foley Monster and Pocket, you had a WINNING caption, fur sure!

And the second caption that tickled  my funny bone was....

"If you think I look good in this outfit, you should see me out of it! I am furtastic!" by Hilary from Feeling Beachie

So, there you have it! Two more silly caption winners who will now be inducted in the Silly Saturday Hall Of Fame (located on my right sidebar) and will also be the envy of all of Blogville because they will be receiving a silly prize and a Silly Saturday Certificate of Recognition!

And to those of you who are severely disappointed to have not reached the Silly Saturday Hall Of Fame status, don't give up because next Saturday your name might be in lights  well known in all of Blogville! Thanks for pawticipating! See you next Saturday!

Easy Like Sunday

 Hi Everyone!

Buster and I have never done this "Easy Like Sunday" thing before so we are guessing we are supposed to make it look easy to relax and purr on a Sunday, right? We hope this picture proves that we know how to make relaxing and purring look easy peasy!

By the way, this crate is officially Daisy's crate and she's supposed to go in here whenever she acts naughty or whenever she needs a break from us but we decided we will take a break from her in here instead!

Oh, and don't furget to add your silly caption to my mom's Silly Saturday Photo Caption Contest! You have until noon (EST) to get your sillies on!

Love,

Henry and Buster

It's Silly Saturday Photo Caption Day!

Do you remember my posts about my silly friends Fenway (the fawn pug) and her brother Ace? My furry friends were the highlight of my day for three years until one day I got the unexpected news that their mom could no longer afford to have me walk them but hoped to rehire me as soon as she won the lottery the economy made a turn around.

I needs a caption!

So what's a girl to do when her dog walker is out of the picture and her mom is working her fingers to the bone to pay the bills? If your name is Fenway you don't just sit around and feel sorry for yourself, that's fur sure. You dust yourself off and apply for a job as a model for PetEdge, that's what! And we all know that models get paid BIG BUCKS for their talents but I have to wonder....

I needs a caption too!

will she need a dog walker once she is discovered by the king of the Playboy Bunnie's, Hugh Hefner? Here's hoping that Fenway will remember all of her adoring fans and all of the ones who are going to caption her photos furever!

Here's your chance to put a caption under Fenway's modeling photos and win the Silly Saturday Photo Caption Contest and

The lucky winner will -

  • receive a silly gift from me in the mail

  • be added to my SILLY SATURDAY HALL OF FAME on my sidebar and you'll be envied by all of the residents of Blogville.

And the details of the contest are -

  •  To play along you must follow my blog. When captioning, please tell me if you are following me via GFC, e-mail, or RSS. I will follow you back too!
  •  Caption the silly photo.
  •  Enter as many times as you wish.
  •  Come back to check out your silly competition throughout the day.
  •  Contest ends at NOON (EST)  - SUNDAY, 3/13!
  • The silly winner will be announced tomorrow afternoon (or sooner if Daisy wakes me up on time)!

Rescue Updates About Ed, The Basset Hound

Do you remember Ed, the Basset Hound, who followed me and my 4 doggy clients from his feces covered yard to my car on December 21, 2010? If  not, please click on Ed's name in the sentence above for an update but as a quick reminder, Ed was found to be in severely bad shape; for example, he was underweight at a mere 33 pounds, he was peeing blood, his inner ears were infected, and his nails were overgrown.

Once Ed arrived at the vet's office it was discovered that the reason why Ed was peeing blood was because of painful bladder stones and he underwent bladder surgery immediately.

In less than one month, the staff at Northside Animal Hospital saw Ed change from a gloomy basset to a basset who was the life of the party, especially when newcomers walked into the waiting room!

Ed stayed at the veterinary hospital for several months until the staff felt he was strong enough to take a ride to New England Basset Hound Rescue, Inc., where he will live with foster parents until he is placed in his forever home. From what I've heard, the founder of NEBHR has already fallen head over paw in love with Ed and will most likely adopt him! Yeah for Ed!

And just when I wondered why Ed's owner hadn't been officially charged for criminal neglect, a subpoena arrived at my home on Tuesday and I will be going to court on March 30th!

I've never been to court before so I hope to make Ed proud when I take the stand! Tracy Frankenberger still thinks he was not to blame for Ed's poor health but there will be plenty of witnesses to refute his claims. Let's hope justice will be served, for Ed's sake!

And I Shall Find Some Peace There

While I was lying in bed two nights ago without my mom (who is still as sick as a *ahem* dog, by the way) I waited with my pal, Piglet, for her to come home from her visit with a lady by the name of

Margaret Roach who wrote a book called And I Shall Find Some Peace There. I don't understand why my mom drove all the way to Gibson's
Bookstore to have some stranger tell her how to find peace when I could have given her the same advice for FREE! But instead,

my mom spent her hard earned money on this book and she

also got her new writer friend to sign the front page!

Okay, I admit that I don't have the opposable thumbs to sign a book but I do know how to find some peace with my mom, in bed, where she belonged (with her new book beside her)for the rest of the night.

Love And Loss: A Domino Effect

Two weekends ago I discovered an eligible bachelor named Domino who was wandering from one front yard to the other, seemingly lost and lonely in the "mean" streets of Bedford, but as soon as he noticed

little Roxie Hart (yes, she was named after THE Roxie Hart, the vaudeville "Chicago" starlet) and big sister Sadie (too bad her name wasn't Velma for the sake of my story) he forgot his troubles and followed them home.

While the girls gave Domino a tour of the house I had other concerns. First of all, why did Domino have an 802 area code on his tag when he is living in area code 603? And how long had he been away from his owners?

The girls knew something was up when I started dialing Domino's mystery phone number and after three unanswered calls I was in a panic. I couldn't allow Domino to move into Roxie and Sadie's house indefinitely because I was just the pet sitter, not their owner.

I also knew I couldn't take Domino home with me in between visits with the girls so I did the next best thing; I called the Bedford police and within minutes an officer was at the door.

Apparently Domino had never been tied up  leashed by an officer before so he thought it was wildly funny until

he was escorted to the backseat of the squad car followed by his girls who couldn't figure out why they couldn't go along for the ride.

I felt so guilty to have ended Roxie and Sadie's budding romance in such an abrupt manner especially when I later found out that Domino's house was just around the corner from them.

As it turned out, Domino's pet sitter let him wander unsupervised just after his owner's drove off to visit friends in NYC and since Domino wasn't getting the attention he deserved he chose us to entertain him!

When his owner finally returned my calls she glibly stated that "Domino is just Domino" and he had toured the neighborhood many times and "there's no stopping him" from visiting everyone. I was shocked that she didn't think her pet sitter was to blame for Domino's disappearance! What pet sitter wouldn't know that a dog would wander off if left unattended?

Fortunately for all concerned, Domino found two Bichons and a pet sitter who took his wandering eyes (and legs, for that matter) very seriously or else he might not have been returned home at all! Thankfully, Domino was safe (I hope) at his home that evening and I am sure the girls have reunited with Mr. Right....Now.....often!

Why Penny's Back Door Friends Are The Best

When I (Penny) first met my dog walkers in October I was very tiny and very unsure of the world around me so they scooped me up and started introducing me to as many four-legged friends as pawsible. Luckily, I didn't have to travel far to meet my two newest friends, Thunder and Spirit, because

.
they are back door neighbors! They are also the loudest singers and whiners on the whole block making it impawsible not to notice them, believe me!

At first, I was afraid of them because they were much furrier, noisier, and taller than I was but when the first snow fell I turned into a very brave little Cavalier who looked forward to

running up their path

that led to the best yard on the block;

Thunder (on the porch) and Spirit's yard,

because they always welcome me with a song

and a friendly sniff!
